God is Faithful in The Midst of Loneliness
“And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, ‘Now I will praise the Lord.’ Therefore, she called his name Judah. Then she stopped bearing.” Genesis 29:35 (NKJV)
Leah’s story is marked by rejection and faith. Each name she gave her sons reflected her desire to be seen and loved. But by the time she bore Judah, her focus shifted: “Now I will praise the Lord.” In that moment, her worth was no longer tied to Jacob’s love but rooted in God’s.
Yet shortly after, she stopped bearing. Instead of continuing to trust God, she tried to take control, acting outside of God’s will and offering her maidservant to Jacob. How often do we do the same when we feel unseen or discouraged?
When God called my husband into ministry, I knew it was God’s will, but I didn’t anticipate the loss of friendships that would follow. I often had to remind myself that we weren’t doing this for acceptance, but for God’s Kingdom. Like Leah, I had to remember: God sees me.
Walking in faith can feel lonely, but Leah’s story shows us that faithfulness to God matters more than human approval. In the end, she was honored by being buried alongside Jacob, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Rebekah. God did not forget her faith.
Your worth is not found in others’ acceptance, but in God’s love.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your endless love. Help me to remember that my worth is found in You alone. Give me the wisdom and strength to walk in faith, knowing that Your plan is always better than my own.
