Awake with Wonder: Waiting for the King
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:11–12
As we enter this Christmas season, our hearts turn again to a stable in Bethlehem, the place where the eternal God wrapped Himself in fragile humanity. Jesus came not as a warrior, not as royalty, not as a spectacle, but as a baby. Fully God. Fully man. He stepped into our world with purpose: to redeem us.
The cradle in Bethlehem always pointed toward the cross on Calvary. The tiny hands that once grasped Mary’s finger would one day stretch wide in sacrificial love. The infant King came to die so we could live. And He will come again.
Scripture calls us to live with zeal, with spiritual fervor, and with expectant hearts, awake, alert, and alive with hope. The same Jesus who arrived quietly in the night will return in blazing glory.
Christmas isn’t just a remembrance; it’s a reminder. A reminder that our Savior keeps His promises. A reminder to live every day longing for His return. A reminder that hope has a name, and He is coming again.
So this season, may your heart burn with fresh passion. May you marvel at the mystery of God made flesh. May you rejoice in the grace that rescued you. And may you walk with renewed zeal, knowing this truth: The One who came as a baby will return as King.
Merry Christmas, friends. May your hearts be filled with wonder, worship, and watchful expectation as we remain ready for the return of our Savior.
